Artist's Description
The Hawaii Motel was a popular Daytona Beach destination for Florida mid-century vacationers. Time, weather, and changes in vacations and still the old signage set stands. Some of the neon has been removed and the hula girl repainted. This depiction puts a few of those aspects back into place as if they were the same as ever with the addition of some patina.
About Lisa Tennant
I love creating urban landscapes with mid-century signage, cityscapes, botanical subjects, landscapes, figuratives and occasionally abstract work. Mediums include drawing media charcoal, pencil, and conte, traditional transparent watercolor on paper, acrylic on canvas, and mixed media & paper collage. I received my MFA in watercolor painting from Eastern Michigan University. I have a number of awards for my paintings, most recently, the 76th Michigan Water Color Society Exhibition MWCS Members Award, and also am selected as a Finalist to published in Artist Magazine's September special issue "AcrylicWorks 10: The Best of Acrylic" art competition.
