This painting is from an ants-eye perspective. It was in five shows and won the Michigan Water Color Society Members Award, and the Best of Show in the Detroit Scarab Club Annual Watercolor Exhibition. Color, light, texture, and shadow dance across a typical fan palm tree in sunny Punta Gorda, Florida.
I love creating urban landscapes with mid-century signage, cityscapes, botanical subjects, landscapes, figuratives and occasionally abstract work. Mediums include drawing media charcoal, pencil, and conte, traditional transparent watercolor on paper, acrylic on canvas, and mixed media & paper collage. I received my MFA in watercolor painting from Eastern Michigan University. I have a number of awards for my paintings, most recently, the 76th Michigan Water Color Society Exhibition MWCS Members Award, and also am selected as a Finalist to published in Artist Magazine's September special issue "AcrylicWorks 10: The Best of Acrylic" art competition.
