This piece is part of a series I am exploring of American neon signage, specifically the Motel. This piece is one of several forthcoming and depicts the Arrow Motel in the morning sun which, although past its heyday is in particularly decent shape. What is missing are some decorative star shape neon elements, and the remnants are still visible in the holes toward the top of the sign. The Arrow Motel resides along Old Blossom Trail in Orlando, FL.

I love creating urban landscapes with mid-century signage, cityscapes, botanical subjects, landscapes, figuratives and occasionally abstract work. Mediums include drawing media charcoal, pencil, and conte, traditional transparent watercolor on paper, acrylic on canvas, and mixed media & paper collage. I received my MFA in watercolor painting from Eastern Michigan University. I have a number of awards for my paintings, most recently, the 76th Michigan Water Color Society Exhibition MWCS Members Award, and also am selected as a Finalist to published in Artist Magazine's September special issue "AcrylicWorks 10: The Best of Acrylic" art competition.
